Helen is an artist and printmaker living and working in Edinburgh.
She trained at Blackburn and Bath Colleges of Art before moving to Scotland.
All of her work begins outdoors, where the inspiration is; lying in the long grass watching the hidden world of insects; on the cliffs sketching the seabird colonies.
Never without her sketchbook, drawing is the base on which all of her work rests.
‘If it is drawing that helps me make sense of things and brings me a sense of calm, printmaking allows me to take the quick sketch of a fast moving subject matter and explore it with a rich variety of mark making. I love all forms of printmaking but it is etching that I return to most often.’
